There's just something about your first of anything- Today I mailed my first homemade card. Gotta say it turned out pretty and I know that the persons receiving it will notice and appreciate it. Sadly it's a Sympathy card for a dear friend of mine that passed away last Wednesday. I certanly intended to attend the wake and service over the weekend but my boy is sick and daddy wasn't comfortable with "parenting " a sick child...so I stayed home.
I knew I was gonna send a card but was I good enough to make one? I had just bought a Religious arylic stamp set and had not used it yet...this would be good a time as any. I did replicate a card found in the CTMH catalog but hey this is my first shot at this ... I think I did ok. It was pretty and I hand wrote inside how sorry I was for their loss with a calligraphy pen ( the girls say I have a pretty writting so I used what God gave me to good use)
I used teals and browns and a touch of pink, put ribbon , a bow and a cross stamp that is wrapped in flowers, which I then watercolored in with my new watercolor pencil set, using co-ordinating colors of course.
Gotta say it was a lot of fun ...as much fun as making a Sympathy card can get.
What came out of this is I didn't think I'd get into making cards but I enjoyed having the instant gratification of making a card , and using up scraps of pretty papers was a bonus!
I will certainly be investing into bulk cards and envelopes and more stamp sets with wordings and such!
take care and happy scrappin'!
