Making New Memories

I am very new to scrapbooking - only 3 weeks into my new journey of creative self discovery...I have to confess...I TOTALLY LOVE IT!!! I am really questioning now, why it took me so long to get in to scrapbooking. I have to say that I was really intimidated, and quite scarred of placing any pictures into a situation they could never get out of (scrapbooking looks very perminent - and sometimes is!).

During my fist marriage of 20 years, my ex husband actually bought me a starter kit of sorts, some fancy scissors, and mini punches, but for some reason I could never commit to sitting down and actually putting pictures on a page and fooling around with all of the bits and bobs...it just seemed like I was going to commit some horrible crime to the pictures that could not be undone...lol....so I stuck with plain photo albums, and never did get around to scrapping anything from my "previous" life.

I have found though, that since I am with a new man, with all sorts of new memories and possibilities, I am just always craving a way to start our new history together. It seems doubly important to me now, with some new health issues, and with recent passing of my grandmother, that there really is no time like the present, and it is better just to dive in and see what the creative universe of scrapbooking can help me achieve. I never guessed that once i started, I would just love it, and would not want to stop...lol.

It has also just occured to me, that possibly one of the many reasons I am now much more attracted to scrapbooking is leaving some sort of legacy. I have never had any children (not for lack of want or trying...), and while I have many nieces/nephews and extended family, I feel as though possibly they don't know me as well as I would like, and possibly one day they could go through my scrapbooks, and see just what a cool person I am...i don't know if that sounds stupid or not (i guess it does not really matter how it sounds...it is how i feel...lol).

Anyways, my point is, I have 3 years of great memories with my fiance. We met quite completely by accident on an internet dating site - and we have been absolutely blissfully happy ever since. I want to cherish our memories of camping, fishing, road trips, day trips, family ocassions, and just our llives in general to create a new and wonderful history that we can both look back on well in to our "rocking" years.

Feel free to share or comment :)

Leigh Ann,
It's good you "found it!" Just enjoy it now! I started back 26 yrs ago{ before it was named with the prgnancy of my first daughter!} {I used the wrapping paper from baby shower gifts and assembled photos starting with 1 day 2 day 1 week, etc. I put it together in one of those 3 " thick peel back protector photo albums that now are a big "NO NO", When she graduated high school and then married I made new ones for her. But she still loves her 3 " think book with all the carebears! . Whish I would have known 27 yrs ago that scrapbooking would have been so big, I would have invested $$! Ha.....
I'm looking forward to helping you on your journey too!
take care
Blessings to you
Robin
