Through a friend, I have learned of an amazing organizational planning technique to share with all of you! I have nicknamed her Spreadsheet geek, and have even laughed at the idea, till I tried it. I highly recommend it!
With this spread sheet you break down all the topics that will go into an album (column 1), how many pictures taken of each topic (column 2), brochures/ticket stubs/postcards (column 3), how many pages you want to use (column 4), max number of photos that can be used on those pages-time to pick the best- (column 5), final column description: this is where I write in the paper, stickers, embellishments that I want to remember to use.
Now here is what I found to be the amazing part! When I sit down at my crop, I know exactly what is going on each page, I will also do a pre planning sketch of the page, and the column with "how many pages you want to use", gives you a running total of pages. The albums I use are recommended to hold 80 pages, as I am preparing my spread sheet, I know when I am getting close to an overflowing album.
You of course can modify and add more columns to suit you style and level of "scrapbooking OCD"
Anyway just wanted to share with all of you. Operation Spreadsheet Geek, has helped me prepare for my first weekend retreat. Wish me luck I can catch up and have a very organize and productive weekend!
