How to shred your files

Leave Comment
You might not have realized it until now but there area lot of situations where you should make absolutely sure that you completelyremove some of your files and leave no trace of them on your hard disk. If youdo not know what I mean, let me give you some examples. Let's say that you havesome work projects on your hard disk or some financial statements and youdelete them. Now, I am sure that you have already heard about a particular type of programcalled a " file recovery " one.

If one of your coworkers for example has some kind ofhidden agenda all he will have to do is spend some time alone with your Mac,undelete some of your files and maybe use them against you. Same goes of coursefor financial type files. Now let's say that you want to sell your Mac andalready found a buyer. Well, the last thing that you should do before you handover your computer is to shred all of your personal files off it. This isbecause its new owner will have plenty of time to use file recovery programs onyour hard disk and see what kind of files you have been storing on it the pastyears.

I hope I have convinced you to take a closer look atfile shredding and if so, I also want to present you with the best filedestroyer out there: MacKeeper. However, this program is much more than asimple file destroyer. It is actually a hard disk cleaner, an awesomeoptimizing tool and a great data control one also. Moreover, it is even avirtual security guard for your Mac. If you use MacKeeper virus and other forms of malware will have a very hardtime penetrating it. To be honest it will be almost impossible for hackerattacks to get through.

Now, about the shredding part, among all the other 15tools, MacKeeper also comes with a built in shredder one. Like I have saidbefore, putting all your files into the trash bin and emptying it doesn'tremove them completely from your hard disk, it will only make your operatingsystem unable to view them and if someone uses an undelete program on your Mache will be able to recover them.

To avoid this, what you need to do is to drag thefiles to MacKeeper's shredder instead and click the shred button on the lowerleft side of your main control panel. You can even choose one of the threeshredding algorithms that are provided with MacKeeper, for great file security. However, I want to warn you that once you press that shred button, those filesare really gone forever. There will be no way for you to recover them, not evenwith specialized help, so you'd better make sure that you want some of yourfiles gone forever before you start removing them from your hard disk.
